The tour starts with a drive through the city of Athens, during which the visitor enjoys seeing: The Panathenaic stadium, where the first Olympics of Modern times took place in 1896; The Presidential palace, guarded by the Evzones, the soldiers of the National traditional guard, wearing their famous costume; The majestic Temple of Zeus, and Hadrian’s Gate; Syntagma (Constitution) square, the cosmopolitan centre of Athens, crowned by the Parliament and the Tomb of the unknown soldier; The three neoclassical buildings: The Academy of Fine arts and Sciences, the University of Athens, and the National Library.
By mastering above all stands we visit the imposing Acropolis. No one should miss the Acropolis Hill and its incredible monuments, the most famous Parthenon, temple dedicated to Goddess Athena, the Erechtheion with its famous Caryatids porch, the Propylaia, monumental entrance gate, and, last but not least, the temple of Athena Nike. From the Western part of the Acropolis, we will enjoy spectacular views of the city below: The Philopappus Hill, the Observatory, the Areopagus, the Ancient Agora, all located among olive and pine trees, typical samples of Greek flora.
