We start from the Marina of Platy Yialos and pass by the islet of Kitriani on our way to Fykiada, a sandy beach surrounded by verdant landscape and the chapel of Agios Georgios Kontos to complete the subtle, beautiful scenery. Then we head for Vathi bay with the homonymous settlement. The secluded bay offers a tranquil haven for many sailboats.
Our course continues north along the western coastline. During this part of the cruise we will see four beaches one after the other: Hochlaki, Vlychada, Tsocha, Toso Nero, accessible by boat or via footpaths only, as most of the western part of Sifnos is a protected area (Natura 2000). Continuing to the north, we will pass by Kamares Bay and the port of Kamares.
We will continue to the secluded and idyllic small bays of Yialoudia, Artimoni and Vroulidia, all with beautiful emerald waters. In Vroulidia there is a pebble stone beach and a small pier (suitable only for very small boats) as well as two taverns that offer excellent “surf n’ turf” meals. If guests wish to spend time on the beach and/or have lunch at Vroulidia, this would be possible only if guests swim to the shore for a distance of about 25 meters in mostly shallow waters. After Vroulidia the cruise continues to Cheronissos, at the northernmost end of the island, a small fishing village with a sandy beach and two taverns on the seashore.
After Cheronissos the boat sails to the northern and then Eastern sides of Sifnos, cruising along enchanting bays and wild rocky seashores, until we reach Panagia Poulati and Kastro further down the coastline, the capital of the island until 1836. Just under Kastro, and just slightly elevated from sea level is Eptamartires, a small and very quaint chapel, built on a rocky promontory, a rugged landscape to admire from the boat. Just after the church of Eptamartires is the small pebble beach of Seralia, the ancient port of Sifnos.
Then the cruise continues to the south of the island. We reserve the best for last: as we return to our starting point we will pass by the three beaches of Fasolou, Faros, Glypho, all within the Faros Bay. There guests will have the opportunity to admire the unique architectural beauty of Monastery of Panagia Chrysopigi, the Patron Saint of Sifnos, built on a small cape connected to the mainland with a small pedestrian bridge, since an earthquake from long ago during which it was separated from the mainland.
After Chrysopigi we sail back to Platy Yialos Marina, where the cruise ends at the same location that it started from.
Good to know
Private boat tours/cruises are dependent on the weather conditions to be prevailing at the time. If there are very strong winds on the day a cruise is scheduled for, it may become necessary to reschedule the cruise time and/or date.
The difference between the half day and full day is that during the full day cruise there is more time available for swimming, snorkelling, etc.
During the full day cruise guests have the possibility to have optional lunch at a seaside tavern at one of the locations along the way.
